Submitting de-listing requests to Google

Google’s approach to anti-spam is not publicly stated. Google’s hosting services have grown too large too fast and their policies have always been a black box.

However, Google’s guidelines and best practices for bulk senders can be accessed here. If you use a Gmail account, you can enroll in services offered by Gmail’s Postmaster Tools to access metrics on reputation, spam rate, and other parameters that can help you identify and fix delivery issues. Tens of thousands of messages or more must be sent each month for these tools to function.

  1. When blocked by Google, make sure you have addressed any technical problems identified by reading the error message.  Full list of error codes here.
  2. After you have taken care of any technical problems and still experience problems delivering to Gmail users then you need to contact Gmail technical support using this form. You will be asked to not submit another form in two weeks, and multiple submissions do not help with getting faster results.
  3. Gmail does not reply with any feedback upon submission. To check the block has been lifted you will have to test and monitor delivery periodically.
  4. Google blocks can last anywhere from days to months so, the best way to deal with Google adding you to their block list is to avoid getting blocked in the first place.
